Engineers Unable to Contain Union

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team battled through multiple swings but fell 76–59 to Union in ECAV Arena this evening.

PJ Scalisi led RPI with 17 points, while Yechiel Stewart supplied 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting with a pair of triples. Andrew Deppe anchored the interior with a game-high 10 rebounds to go with eight points, four assists, two blocks and a steal, and Nate Tawiah-Boateng added five boards.

RPI answered an early Union burst with a composed run of its own, with Scalisi's perimeter shooting and Tawiah-Boateng's dunk pushing the Engineers ahead 27–24 near the eight-minute mark. From there, Union closed the half on a 19-6 run to lead by 10 at the break.

The Engineers made a push out of halftime, with a Deppe three, a Matchett layup in transition, and a Matchett right-wing three trimmed the deficit to 47–43 with 17 minutes remaining. Union responded with 10 straight points to restore separation.

The Garnet Chargers received a combined 50 points from Tanner Tedesco and Jack Presser, as the pair each scored 25 to help Union remain undefeated versus Liberty League opponents.

RPI will look to regroup with a. 4:00 pm home tilt against Skidmore.
