SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The RPI women's soccer team fell to Skidmore, 3-0, in Liberty League action this evening at Wachenheim Field. The Engineers moved to 4-3-3 overall and 0-3-0 in conference play.
Skidmore opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Ellianna Caporusso finished a setup from Mara Grace. Georgia Campbell doubled the advantage later in the opening half, again off a feed from Grace, to send the Thoroughbreds into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
RPI generated several chances of its own, with
Micaela Ross putting two first-half attempts on goal. The Engineers came out aggressively after halftime as
Elsa Ryan,
Annabelle Bachhuber, and
Maddy Kaminski all tested Skidmore goalkeeper Sophia Sayers in the opening minutes of the second period.
Skidmore added its third goal in the 48th minute when Bryn Ryan converted another assist from Grace. RPI continued to generate opportunities, including another Bachhuber shot on goal, but could not break through.
Ross led the Engineers with two shots on goal, while Bachhuber added two shots and one on target. RPI finished with eight total shots, including five on goal.
