Deppe, Scalisi, and Coaching Staff Honored with All-Liberty League Accolades

TROY, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball program was represented on the Liberty League's postseason awards list, as Andrew Deppe earned First Team All-Liberty League recognition, PJ Scalisi was selected to the Second Team, and Head Coach Mark Gilbride and assistants were named the top coaching staff, as announced by the conference announced today.

Deppe, a steady force in the paint all season, picked up First Team honors after producing 13.4 points per game, ranking 16th in the Liberty League, while also averaging 6.4 rebounds per contest (9th in the league). He shot 50 percent from the field, good for fifth among conference leaders, and added rim protection on the defensive end with a top-10 league ranking in blocked shots.

Scalisi's Second Team selection followed an all-around campaign that blended scoring, perimeter shot-making, and disruptive defense. He led RPI with 13.8 points per game (14th in the Liberty League) and added 5.1 rebounds per game (19th), while also ranking among the conference's top shooters from distance at 37 percent from three-point range (8th in the league). On the defensive side, Scalisi's activity and anticipation stood out, as he averaged 1.8 steals per game, the fifth-best mark in the Liberty League.

The RPI coaching staff earned Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors as head coach Mark Gilbride and assistant coaches Maguire Sweeney and Aidan Macauley directed the Engineers to a 21-6 overall record and a 16-2 mark against conference opponents. RPI earned the top seed for the 2026 Liberty League Championship and claimed the regular-season title for the third time since 2020.

The Engineers boasted the stingiest defense in the conference this season, holding opponents to 60.1 points per game overall and 58.9 in conference matchups. They also led the conference in scoring margin (9.3), ranked second in field goal percentage (45.5 percent) and three-point percentage (33.8 percent), and were third in assists (15.8 per game).
