Engineers Travel to #7 William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team ran into a fast start by #7 William Smith this afternoon, falling 19-6 at Urick Stadium.

RPI was led offensively by Camille Stackhouse, who posted a team-high three goals, while Ava Gilardone added two goals and Lila Kania rounded out the scoring with one goal and an assist from Abigail Couzens. In goal, Halley Feaga, Emmerson Danish, and Lillian Brady combined for 10 saves.

William Smith seized control early with a seven-goal first quarter before Stackhouse got the Engineers on the board with a free-position finish to cut the deficit to 5-1. The hosts continued to build momentum in the second, and although Gilardone scored unassisted early in the period, William Smith carried a 12-2 lead into halftime.

RPI found some offense in the third, as Gilardone added her second unassisted goal and Stackhouse answered later in the quarter to help the Engineers stay competitive in stretches.

In the fourth, Stackhouse converted on the man advantage early, and Kania finished a Couzens assist in the final minutes, but William Smith closed out the victory with steady scoring in the final period.

The Engineers will continue their weekend trip with a 2:00 pm meeting at Rochester tomorrow.
