Engineers Sweep William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on the road, sweeping William Smith by a 7-0 score in Liberty League action.

The Engineers claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep across all three positions. Nicole Ridenour and Anushka Jaiswal earned a convincing 6-1 victory in the top slot, while Victoria Sarabosing and Kayla Wheeler followed with a strong 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. RPI completed the sweep at the third position as Gauri Muliyil and Juliette Ceas posted another decisive 6-1 victory.

Carrying that momentum into singles play, the Engineers secured all six matches to complete the shutout. At No. 1 singles, Ridenour controlled play throughout, earning a 6-3, 6-4 win. Muliyil delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day at the second position, rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

RPI continued its success through the middle of the lineup, as Wheeler posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Sarabosing followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the fourth position. At No. 5 singles, Ceas battled through a three-set match, rebounding after dropping the opening set to claim a 1-6, 6-4 victory, before securing the match in a 10-3 tiebreak.

At the sixth position, Neha Saraswatula completed the sweep with a strong comeback performance, dropping the first set before responding with 6-2, 6-2 wins in the final two sets to secure the match.

The Engineers head to Ithaca tomorrow for an afternoon dual.
