TROY, N.Y. – Senior Jeff Gumaer scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Bentley College to a 4-3 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a Division I men's hockey game before a sellout Houston Field House crowd of 4,780. Bentley improves to 1-1-0 while the Engineers fall to 0-3-0.

Gumaer's (Webster Groves, MO/Springfield Jr. Blues) game-winning goal came on a three-on-two break, which he scored into the top left corner of the net on a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle. Linemates Dustin Cloutier (Berkley, MI/Mahoning Valley Phantoms) and Kane Osmars (Kanata, ON/Kanata Stallions) assisted on the goal, Gumaer's second of the season.

It was Gumaer's first goal, a wraparound just 1:25 into the second period, that opened the scoring. RPI tied the game 14 minutes later when sophomore Tyler Helfrich (Calgary, AB/Prince George Spruce Kings) scored on his own rebound at 14:58 of the second period. The Engineers took a 2-1 lead on a Seth Klerer (Thornhill, ON/North York Rangers) gave the Engineers a 2-1 lead on a wrist shot from the high slot with 1:31 remaining in the period but Bentley's Dain Prewitt (Westminster, CO/Fargo-Moorhead Jets) knotted the score just 30 seconds later.

The Falcons re-gained the lead on a Pat Percella (Bayonne, NJ/Boston University) goal from just outside the crease at 14:04 of the third period but RPI captain Matt Angers-Goulet (St. Augustin, PQ/Notre Dame Hounds) tallied on a deflection in front of the goalie with an extra attacker on the ice and 1:12 left in regulation.

Bentley's Kyle Rank (Islip, NY/Markham Waxers), a freshman, made 20 saves to earn the win. Freshman Allen York (Wetaskiwin, AB/Camrose Kodiaks) stopped 21 shots in the loss for the Engineers, who saw junior Garret Vassel (Westhampton, NY/New York Apple Core) earn two assists.

RPI is right back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Massachusetts in a non-league game at the Houston Field House (7pm). Bentley plays again on October 31 at league foe Air Force.
