Women's Tennis Stays Perfect with Win over Hartwick

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team continued its impressive start with a 7-2 win over Hartwick College at Sharp Courts this afternoon. The Engineers won five of six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to improve to 3-0 overall while the Hawks fall to 1-3. 

Leading the way for the Engineers was junior Christine Roe (Phoenix, AZ/North), who remains undefeated in her matches this season, winning at the second flight in doubles and singles today.

Below are the results of the individual matches by seed:

1. Progga Das (RPI) def. Betsy Breaznell: 6-2, 6-2

2. Christine Roe (RPI) def. Jen Lin: 6-1, 6-1

3. Anne Neely (HRT) def. Andrea Dalton: (4-1) retired

4. Cora Wigen (RPI) def. Callie McAloon: 6-0, 6-1

5. Jessica Sitzer (RPI) def. Kim Post: 7-5, 4-6, 10-7

6. Zasia Casterline (RPI) def. Carly Jesset: 7-5, 3-6, 11-9


1. Das & Wigen (RPI) def. Breaznell & Lin: 8-0

2. Roe & Sitzer (RPI) def. Neely & McAloon: 8-1

3. Jesset & Christine Sorrentino (HRT) def. Dalton & Rachel Smith: 8-6 


Rensselaer returns to action on Saturday when it hosts SUNY Brockport at 12pm at Sharp Courts.  Hartwick hosts RIT, also on Saturday (1pm).
