SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Union used a dominant effort in the pool, including multiple wins by Kaleigh Ahern and Mary Kate Bauman, to defeat Rensselaer in dual meet men's and women's swimming action on Friday.  The Red Hawks were led by two individual victories by junior Aimee Catroppa.

Catroppa won the 200-butterfly in a time of 2:14.08 and captured the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:29.44.  She also helped the 200-medley relay team to second with a time of 2:00.65.  As a team, the Rensselaer women fell 165.5-76.5.

On the men's side, Will Carder won the 500-freestyle in a time of 5:03.63.  He also finished second in the 1000-free with a time of 10:40.19, but the Red Hawks' men fell 164-77.

The Rensselaer men's squad is back in the pool tomorrow afternoon when it hosts the 2009 Henry Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool.  Among the competiting teams will be Clarkson, Ithaca, Oneonta St., Cortland, New Paltz and Skidmore.

RPI's women's team returns to action on January 24th when it hosts the RPI Invitational (12pm).
