Jen Bach (Landsdale, PA/Gwynedd-Mercy Academy). #
Julianne Bass# (Costa Mesa, CA/Newport Harbor) followed with a base hit and both runners scored on a single and an error.
Williams (13-14) scored its first run in the second inning. Clean-up hitter Morgan Simpson (McLean, VA/Potomac School) opened the inning with a double. The Red Hawks extended their lead to 4-1 in their half of the second inning on an RBI, hit-and-run single to rightfield by junior
Becky Bailey (Rome, NY/Holland Patent).
Simpson drove in the next two runs with a two-run, two-out single to leftfield in the third inning to pull the Ephs within a run, 4-3. Fowler-Cornfield, the next batter, plated two more runs with a triple to right centerfield to give the visitors a 5-4 lead.
RPI came right back with two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a two-run triple to leftfield by sophomore shortstop Alysia Rochminski (Schenectady, NY/Colonie). A bunt single by Finkbeiner scored Rochminski for a 7-5 lead.
The Red Hawks added three unearned runs in the fourth inning for a five-run margin but the Ephs got two back in the fifth with a two-RBI single by senior Libby Copeland-Halperin (New York, NY/Horace Mann). Rensselaer answered with a run before the game was called due to darkness.
Sophomore
Felicia Bua (Gilford, NH) earned the win and Bach the save for the Red Hawks, who saw eight batters collect at least one hit. Simpson finished 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBI for the Ephs.
