ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Rensselaer women's tennis team won all six singles matches and the Engineers defeated Hartwick, 8-1, in the first dual match of the season for both teams.
Christine Roe (Phoenix, AZ/North) downed Betsy Breaznell (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) and Hetal Baman (Blauvelt, NY/Tappan Zee) scored a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win over Carly Jesset (Shelburne, VT/CVU) to pace the Engineers.
Reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week Brianna Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton Regional), Alexandra Armstrong (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and Zosia Casterline (Farmington, MI/Farmington) also earned straight set wins on the day.
RPI next plays on Sept. 19 with a home match against New Paltz.
