CLINTON, N.Y. - The Rensselaer men's soccer team, the 14th-ranked team in the nation, remained unbeaten - and unscored upon - with a 1-0 victory at Hamilton in the Libery League opener for both teams.  RPI improves to 6-0-1, while the Continentals are now 2-3-1.

Neither team was able to score in the first half. Rensselaer came close early in the half, but a goal was disallowed. Later in the half, the Continentals had an opportunity to score when Billy Ford fired a shot but Rensselaer goalie Alex Penny (Northport, NY/Northport) made the save.

It was not until the 73rd minute that RPI scored the game-winning goal. After a series of passes in front of the goal, junior Bryce Hutchinson (Elverson, PA/Twin Valley) put a shot past Continental goalkeeper, Eric Boole.  Hutchinson's second goal this year was set up by Jabel Prom (Sandy Spring, MD/Sherwood) and Andrew Tambasco (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa). The goal came with 17:01 left in regulation.

Penny finished with two saves as RPI has not allowed a goal yet this season - the only team in college soccer - and stretched his season-opening shutout streak to 560 minutes. The Engineers lead the all-time series, 18-13-3.  Boole finished with three saves.

Rensselaer held the advantage in shots, 16-7, and corner kicks, 5-2.

The Engineers return to action on Saturday at 2pm at league foe Hobart, the sixth-ranked team in Division III.  Hamilton returns to Love Field at the same time against Vassar.
