Shannon Maguire (Randolph, NJ) and 
Afton Marshall (Windham, NH) scored twice and 
Whitney Kukol had a goal and a team-high five ground balls but it was not enough as the Rensselaer women's lacrosse team lost a Liberty League contest to #13 Union, 15-6.  RPI falls to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the league.  The Dutchwomen are now 5-4 and 3-0.
Junior attack Kristin Joyce (Longmeadow, MA) scored six goals and junior defender/midfielder Melissa Hine (South Hadley, MA) had a goal with three assists for Union.  Jill LaForest (Acton, MA) and Abby Stohler (West Hartford, CT) added two goals each for the Dutchwomen, who had a 25-19 shot advantage on the day. Union also won 14 of the 23 draw controls and had 24 ground balls. Each team forced 13 turnovers.
Also scoring for Rensselaer, which had three free position goals, was 
Sam Fennessey (Gansevoort, NY).
Union junior goaltender Cat Ruggiero (Huntington, NY) made seven saves and did not allow a goal in 44:13 before coming out with a 13-0 Union lead. Alexis Deeb (Albany, NY) stopped three Engineers shots in the final 15:47. Senior goalkeeper 
Ariana Hood (Severn, MD) made seven saves for Rensselaer.
The Dutchwomen scored three goals in the first 6:51, and Hine assisted on Joyce's first goal with 24:07 left. Hine then assisted on scores by Joyce and LaForest and the Dutchwomen led 5-0 with 10:12 remaining. Joyce scored three of Union's five goals in the final 8:30 of the first half, and Abby Stohler (West Hartford, CT) scored a free position with 3:11 left to provide the eventual halftime score of 10-0.
Sisters Heather Fraser and Brittany Fraser (both from Boxford, MA) made it 12-0 to open the half and Joyce scored her final goal of the day, and 37th of the season, 7:22 into the second half for a 13-0 lead. 
RPI tallied the next three with Maguire notching her 11th of the year with 13:42 left, followed by Marshall and then Maguire again with 7:34 remaining. Union got the next two to make it 15-3 but RPI scored three free position goals in the last 1:38, including Marshall's 17th of the season. Union also got single goals in the game from Allison Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA) and Casey Dianni (Rye, NY).
Union is next in action on April 13 at Middlebury, while the Engineers return to action for a league game at St. Lawrence on April 16.
