POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Goals from nine different players saw the Rensselaer women's lacrosse team roll past Vassar, 18-7 in Liberty League action on Saturday.  With the win, the Engineers move to 6-4 on the season and improve to 2-2 in conference play.  The Brewers are now 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the Liberty League.

RPI jumped out to an early lead in the game as senior Jen Greenwood and sophomore Shannon Maguire made it a quick two-goal advantage with 25:25 left in the opening half.  Vassar retaliated less than a minute later as three quick tallies made it a 3-2 edge for the homestanding Brewers.  The Engineers answered as senior Tracy Breslin and junior Emma Albert notched their first goals of the season to give RPI the slim 4-3 advantage with 18:58 left on the clock.

The Brewers continued to pressure as Elizabeth Feltch and Moe Bryne each scored their second of the contest to make it a 5-4 lead, but it would be the last advantage Vassar would have as Rensselaer scored six goals over the final 8:47 to take a 10-6 lead into halftime.  Leading the way during the stretch were two goals and an assist from sophomore Alissa Peterson.

The Engineers kept up the momentum in the second half as Peterson scored at 28:27 to push it to 11-6.  Vassar's Feltch tallied her third of the game less than two minutes later, but the visitors continued to roll with seven straight goals to seal up the 18-7 victory.  Peterson added two tallies with an assist during the span, while senior Stephanie Caouette scored a goal and had a helper.

In addition to Peterson, who finished with four goals and two assists, the Engineers saw Caouette record two goals with three assists.  Graduate student Whitney Kukol had three goals and an assist, while Greenwood added two tallies and a helper.  RPI also saw Breslin and Albert notch two scores apiece.  Between the pipes, sophomore Allie Arnal picked up the victory, stopping seven shots.

For the Brewers, Feltch finished with three goals, while Byrne added two tallies and two assists.  In goal, Heather Kesselman made five stops in the loss over 30 minutes, while Nicole Engelhardt stopped one shot in relief in the second half.

The Engineers are back in action on next weekend as they welcome St. Lawrence and Clarkson to Renwyck Field on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively.  The Brewers will host Western Connecticut State on Tuesday (4:30pm).
