TROY, N.Y. - The Union College men's and women's swimming & diving teams pulled out a pair of dual meet victories against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Senior Night at Robison Pool. The Dutchmen were victorious by a 143.5 to 97.5 margin, while the Union women edged the Engineers, 119-118.
RPI was led by a solid performance from senior Carly Antonucci (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central), who posted victories in three events. She won the 200-individual medley in a time of 2:17.26 and the 100-breaststroke with a mark of 1:09.06.
Antonucci, along with junior Mairead Lyons (Leominster, MA/Notre Dame), senior Eva Skorupka (North Andover, MA/Central Catholic) and junior Christina Provenza (Millersville, MD/Severna Park) also claimed victory in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:55.59.
Provenza also had an individual win in the 100-butterfly, posting a time of 1:02.06. Rounding out the solid efforts for the women was senior Anita Westbrook (Columbus, OH/Whetstone). She won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 220.95 points, while also posting a win off the 3-meter board with 234.67 points.
On the men's side, the Engineers saw graduate student
Alex Updegrove (Carson City, NV/Carson) win the 50-freestyle with a time of 22.40. Junior
Nate Hosking (Keene, NH/Keene) won the 1650-free with a time of 16:46.07, while classmate
Ben LeRose (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) won the 200-IM with a time of 2:02.10.
The Engineers men return to the pool on Saturday, hosting the Henry Kumpf Invitational at Robison Pool. Action at the meet, which features eight teams, begins at 12pm. The women return to the pool on January 21st, hosting the RPI Invitational at Robison Pool (12pm).
