SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Backed by strong performances on relays, the Rensselaer men's and women's swimming & diving team both brought home victories this afternoon in a dual meet against Skidmore. The men's team won 180-102, while the women were victorious by a 178-109 margin.

Leading the way on the men's side was junior Ben LeRose (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette), who won the 200-butterfly in a time of 2:02.53. Graduate student Alex Updegrove (Carson City, NV/Carson) also had a win, taking the 200-backstroke in 2:05.07. The 400-freestyle relay and 200-medley relay each delivered victories as well, in times of 3:20.47 and 1:44.19 respectively.

On the women's side, junior Tina Belletete (Winchendon, MA/Gardner) won three events, including the 200-freestyle (2:03.02), the 200-butterfly (2:17.68) and the 500-freestyle (5:28.31). The 400-freetyle relay team picked up a victory in 3:54.04, while the 200-medley relay team won in 2:00.50.

Both teams return to the pool next Saturday, when they visit Hamilton for a dual meet (2pm).
