POTSDAM, N.Y. – Senior
Grace Tilton finished second in the women's 6k run, while classmate
Patrick Condon took sixth in the men's 8k event to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) cross country teams each to place second at the 2012 Liberty League Championship, hosted by Clarkson University.
Tilton (Concord, NH/Concord) cross the finish line in 21:47 which was four seconds behind St. Lawrence junior Amy Cymerman, who was the individual champion on the women's side. RPI senior
Meredith Mayes (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) ended up 10th in 22:41, while freshman
Emily Stickles (Franklin, MA/Franklin) and senior
Marie Ferro (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) went 16-17 in times of 23:29 and 23:31, respectively.
The men's team saw three place in the top 10 individually, including Condon (Reading, MA/Reading Memorial), a captain, who ran the 8k event in 26:02. Joining Congdon in the top 10 was junior
Sean Quinn (Brookline, NH/Hollis Brookline) and sophomore
Jacob Andrews (New Woodstock, NY/Fabius-Pompey), who crossed in 26:04 and 26:06, respectively. 10 seconds separated fifth and 11th place in a very competitive men's field.
Both squads are back in action on November 10, when they take part in the 2012 Atlantic Regional Championship, held at the University of Rochester.
