Miguel Hummel and Maggie Cullather each set school records to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) swimming & diving teams to a sweep of Vassar College. The men defeated the Brewers 177-99, while the women were victorious, 178-122.
Hummel (Pittsburgh, PA/Fordham Prepatory), a junior, hit NCAA cut scores off both the three-meter and one meter boards, while setting a school record off the three-meter with a 326.85. His score off the one-meter was 285.60, earning a total of 18 points for the Engineers.
Cullather (Highland Park, IL/Highland Park), a freshman, broke a school record off the one-meter diving board and earn an NCAA cut with a 278.55. She also finished fourth off the three-meter board.
The Engineers men won the 200-meter freestyle relay, while the women went 1-2-3 in both the women's 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke. The women also took home victory in the 400-meter freestyle relay.
Both teams are back in the pool tomorrow afternoon in Troy, when they host Hartwick at Robison Pool (1pm).
