Women's Tennis Drops Match at St. Lawrence

Engineers suffer an 8-1 loss against league-rival Saints

CANTON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team shouldered an 8-1 loss on the road at St. Lawrence on Sunday.  The Engineers slip to 10-3 on the season, while the Saints – who are ranked #16 in the Northeast Region – improve to 11-2 overall.
 
St. Lawrence took advantage in the singles matches, sweeping all six flights to seal the victory.  RPI rookie Jessica Buckley (Whitesboro, NY/Notre Dame Jr.-Sr.) had one of the strongest showings on the afternoon for the Engineers.  She fought to a 6-7 (3), 6-1, (10-5) loss in the sixth flight against SLU's Anna Young.
 
Rensselaer's lone point came in doubles action rookie Katrina Bohnhorst (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) and junior captain Brianna Dickie (Acton, MA/Acton Regional) battled to an 8-4 victory in the third flight.

The Engineers return to the court on Wednesday in a road match at Oneonta State at 4pm.  RPI returns home on Saturday to face William Smith at Sharp Courts in a 12pm start.
