SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Junior captain
Shannon Maguire scored a game-best four goals, including two in the second half, as the Rensselaer women's lacrosse team defeated Skidmore, 11-9 in Liberty League action. With the victory, the Engineers set the school record in wins, improving to 14-1. RPI also secured the conference's regular season title and the top-seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament after finishing 8-1 in conference action. The Thoroughbreds fall to 9-7 overall and 4-5 in Liberty League play.
In earning the top-seed, the Engineers will now host the 2012 Liberty League Tournament, beginning with the two Semifinal games on Friday, May 4th at RPI's Renwyck Field. Game times are to be determined for the games, which will culminate in Saturday's conference championship title game.

Meg Colitz (East Greenwich, RI/LaSalle Academy) tacked on another tally less than three minutes later before Skidmore closed the gap to 8-6 with a goal at 20:16 by Spencer Morgan.
Colitz was able to make it a three-goal advantage once again with 14:44 left on the clock and Maguire added back-to-back goals to make it an 11-6 lead with 7:50 remaining in the contest.
The Thoroughbreds fought back in the late stages in the game as Robin Fetterolf scored with 4:07 left to make it 11-7. In the final 42 seconds, Summer Segalas made things interesting with a pair of goals to close the gap to 11-9, but the Engineers held strong in the closing seconds to seal the win and the Liberty League regular season title.
Junior
Allie Arnal (Lakewood, NY/Phillips Exeter Academy) finished with five saves in the win to move to 14-1 on the season, while Skidmore's Rachel Klein made nine stops in the loss.
RPI returns to action on Friday when it hosts the two Semifinals in the Liberty League Tournament. The Engineers, who are the top-seed, will host fourth-seeded Union beginning at 2pm, while second-seeded RIT and third-seed William Smith will face-off at 4pm. Both games, as well as Saturday's 3pm title game will be played at Renwyck Field.
