WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Fourteen different players scored goals for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team, which defeated Ohio Wesleyan, 20-3, this evening at Lake Lytal Park. With the win, the Engineers improve to 3-0 this season, while the Battling Bishops fall to 1-4.

Juniors Michelle Denny and Meg Colitz scored less than two minutes into the game to give RPI an early 2-0 lead. Bishops' senior Annie Swanson (McLean, VA/Langley) answered with an unassisted tally to pull within 2-1.

The Engineers then went on a 8-0 scoring run – including three goals by freshman Erin Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) – to take a 10-1 lead, midway through the first half. After the two teams split four goals, RPI sophomore Jamie Wakefield (Windsor, CT/Windsor) took a feed from senior Audrey Stapleton (Barrington Hills, IL/Barrington) and scored to make it 13-3 at the break.

Rensselaer scored seven goals in the second half, while shutting out Ohio Wesleyan at the defensive end of the field. The Engineers surrendered just a single shot on goal over the final 32:57 of the contest.

Senior goaltender Allie Arnal (Lakewood, NJ/Phillips Exeter Academy) picked up the win, making six saves, before giving way to sophomore Erin Amarello (Griswold, CT/St. Bernard School), who did not see a shot on target over the final 22:41.

Riley and senior Alissa Peterson (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) each tallied three goals for RPI, while Colitz finished with two goals and an assist. Freshmen Sara Bischof (Amherst, NY/Amherst Central), Maeve Conway (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) and Emily Essig (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) all netted their first collegiate goals for the Engineers.

Rensselaer is back in action on Tuesday, when it visits Middlebury (5:30pm).
