LATHAM, N.Y. - In a match of regionally-ranked foes, St. Lawrence University won two doubles and three singles, including two in third sets, to defeate Rensselaer, 5-4 at Tri-City Fitness. RPI, which is ranked 19th in the region, falls to 7-3, while the 17th-ranked Saints improve to 3-3.

RPI's first doubles team of Casey Olsen and Amanda Alexander opened with an 8-5 victory but SLU earned wins in the next two flights. The Saints also had the upper hand in the first two singles flights, winning both in third sets. RPI freshman Emily Laurilliard took third singles in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, despite being down 3-4 in the final set. The Engineers also got singles wins at four and six, but it was not enough.
