Mackenzie O'Neil notched a career-high five points to lead the 19th-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team to an, 18-5, victory over Bard College, this afternoon in Liberty League action from Renwyck Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 8-2 (4-0 Liberty), while the Raptors drop to 5-7 (0-5 Liberty).
O'Neil (Duxbury, MA/Milton Academy) notched three goals and added an assist in the first half, before tallying a fourth goal – her 10th of the season – in the second to lead all scorers. Senior 
Alissa Peterson (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) and junior 
Erin Pomerantz (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) had three goals apiece.
Pacing the visitors were junior Stephanie LaMont (Skippack, PA/Germantown Academy) and sophomore Joanna Regan (Selden, NY/Newfield) who had two tallies each.
The Engineers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead thanks to a goal from Peterson and two from sophomore 
Erin Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South). Bard cracked the scoreboard 11:38 into the contest, when Regan netted her first of the game and 25th of the year, making it 3-1.
Rensselaer then closed out the half on a 7-0 run to take an 11-1 lead into halftime. The Engineers held the advantage in a number of categories at the break, including shots (17-5), ground balls (11-7) and draw controls (9-4).
LaMont buried the first goal of the second half to pull Bard to within 11-2, but RPI answered, scoring four in a row, including Peterson's 27th of the season. A marker from Regan halted the streak with 18:30 left in the second half, but three more Engineers' goals, over the next three minutes, gave the hosts an 18-3 advantage.
The Raptors did score the last two goals of the game, including LaMont's team-leading 36th of the season.

Allie Arnal (Lakewood, NY/Phillips Exeter Academy) picked up the victory, making three saves in the first half. Sophomore 
Erin Amarello (Griswold, CT/St. Bernard School) and freshman 
Heather MacLauchlan (Somers, CT/Somers) saw time between the pipes in the second half.
Raptors junior netminder Maddy Huggins (Mukilteo, WA/Archbishop Murphy) made four saves on the afternoon.
The Engineers are home to Vassar tomorrow afternoon (2:30pm), while Bard travels to Skidmore (2pm).
