Women's Tennis Battles Past Hamilton, 6-3

TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer women's tennis team upped its record to 11-3 by winning two doubles matches and four singles matches in defeating Hamilton, 6-3.

"First and second doubles did a great job putting us ahead 2-1 going into singles," said head coach Erica Hollot.

In singles, the Engineers, who are ranked 20th in the region, saw Emily Aaldenberg fight back after losing the first set to win the second, and then the supertiebreaker, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-1).

Doubles:

1) Olsen and Alexander (RPI) def. Detwiller and Lee (HC) 8-3.
2) Laurilliard and Buckley (RPI) def. Khanna and Schoning (HC) 8-6.
3) Arenson and Shea (HC) def. Ciamarra and Ham (RPI) 9-7.

Singles:
1) Olsen (RPI) def. Khanna (HC) 6-2, 6-1
2) Schoning (HC) def. Laurilliard (RPI) 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4)
3) Ciamarra (RPI) df. Shaugnesy (HC) 6-1, 6-1
4) Friedman (HC)  def.  Alexander (RPI) 3-6, 1-5 Retired
5) Aaldenberg (RPI) def. Shea (HC) 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-1)
6) Ham (RPI) def. Detwiller (HC) 6-1, 6-3

The Engineers return to the court on Saturday when they play at RIT at 10am.
