TROY, N.Y. – Senior Jen Biondi hit a home run and drove in four runs on the afternoon to lead the Ithaca College softball team to wins of 5-2 and 9-1 over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), in non-league action from Doris Robison Field. With the wins, the Bombers improve to 21-13 overall, while the Engineers drop to 23-14.

Biondi (Rockaway, NJ/Norris Knolls) went 4 for 7 in the doubleheader to lead the way for the visitors from Ithaca. She broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning with her first home run of the season – two run shot – over the fence in left.

Junior Sydney Folk (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach) added an RBI-single in the top of the fifth, before run-scoring base hits from junior Rachel Dell-Orto (East Islip, NY/East Islip) and sophomore Francesca Busa (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) made 5-0 in the sixth.

The Engineers came back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame, but could not climb any closer. Senior Caitlin McGivern (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) drove in the game's final run with a single to left.

Ithaca junior Sam Bender (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) improved to 10-3 from the circle, allowing four hits, while striking out one in 4.1 innings.

In game two, Biondi drove in a run in the top of the first, before the Engineers answered with an RBI-single off the bat of junior Charlene Osmanski (Elmhurst, IL/York) to tie the game at 1-1.

After a scoreless second inning, the Bombers would go on to plate at least a run in every inning except for the sixth to come away with the 9-1 win. Biondi finished the nightcap going a perfect 3 for 3, while Busa went 3 for 4 with two runs scored out of the lead-off spot.

RPI sophomore Jocilyn Rudisill (Galloway, NJ/Absengami) picked up two hits in four at-bats in game two.

The Engineers are back on the diamond next weekend, when they take part in the Liberty League Tournament. RPI, which will be the second seed, will face third-seeded St. Lawrence (TBD).
