HOMESTAND CONTINUES: Rensselaer resumes its 10-game homestand this weekend against Liberty League foes St. Lawrence and Skidmore ... The Engineers are currently 3-1 during the stretch of home contests.

RPI SPLITS WITH PLATTSBURGH: Senior Aimee Konet went a combined 4 for 7 with three runs batted in to lead Rensselaer to a doubleheader split with Plattsburgh State, on Thursday ... The Engineers lost game 4-3 in nine innings before taking game two, 4-2 ... Konet came up big in the seventh inning of game one, driving a double to left that scored two runs to tie the game at 3-3 ... After a scoreless eighth, the Cardinals struck for the only extra inning run in the top of the ninth, as Kristine Gay platted the eventual game-winning run with a groundout to third ... Plattsburgh State righthander Ashley Marshall shut down the Engineers in the bottom of the frame to earn the win ... In game two, the visitors struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second ... Samantha Tenney doubled to the gap in right-center, driving in Nicole Milano and Emily Sharlow ... Plattsburgh State maintained its 2-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth, when the Engineers scored four unearned runs, including three after two were out ... Following a Cardinals error, Caitlin McGivern singled to the left side of the infield, putting runners on first and second ... Taylor Ten Eyck then delivered with a base-hit to center, which scored pinch runner Nicole Batan to make it a 2-1 game ... Jocilyn Rudisill then came through with the biggest hit of the frame, singling to left-center, which scored pinch-runner Danielle Balestrini and Ten Eyck for the 3-2 lead ... Konet added an insurance run with a single to center.

RENSSELAER LEADERS: The Engineers are led offensively by senior Gillian McCarthy, who is tops in a number of categories, including batting average (.435), hits (20), home runs (2), runs batted in (16), slugging percentage (.674) and on-base percentage (.481) ... Senior Caitlin McGivern is second on the team is batting average (.379) and has recorded a double, four runs scored and six RBI ... Freshman Taylor Ten Eyck (.364) has a double, a club-best 12 runs scored and seven RBI.

FROM THE CIRCLE: Sophomore Kristina Weltzin is 6-3 with a 1.48 earned run average in 11 appearances (9 starts) ... Recording her first career save on Thursday, she has allowed 42 hits, while striking out 52 in 52.0 innings of work ... Notching six complete games, including three shutouts, she surrenders a .215 opponents' batting average ... Junior Charlene Osmanski (3-2) has a 3.91 ERA in seven appearances (6 starts) ... She has given up 43 hits, with 12 strikeouts over 28.2 innings ... Freshman Victoria Hepworth (2-0) has made seven appearances (1 start) and carries a 3.37 ERA in 27.0 innings ... She has 14 strikeouts and a .314 opponents' batting average.

AT DORIS ROBISON FIELD: The Engineers are 31-11 a Doris Robison Field since 2010 ... RPI has won at least 10 games at home over the last two season and is off to a 3-1 start in 2013.

SAINTS SPLIT WITH POTSDAM: St. Lawrence came back from a 6-0 sixth inning deficit to defeat SUNY Potsdam, 9-8, in eight innings ... The Saints avenged a 1-0 loss in the first game of the day to the Bears.

ST. LAWRENCE LEADERS: The Saints are led offensively by senior Elizabeth McGinley, who is batting .417, with three doubles, three runs scored and three runs batted in ... Junior Natasha Bell is second at .389, with six runs and five RBI, while classmate Leslie Stratton rounds out the top three hitters at .341, with a double, 10 runs scored and two RBI ... McGinley is 4-3 from the circle, with a 3.27 earned run average in 45.0 innings ... Sophmore Kyle Plimpton (3-4) has a 1.95 ERA to go along with 56 strikeouts in 46.2 innings.

VS. SLU IN 2012: The Engineers went a combined 4-0 against St. Lawrence last season, including a pair of wins in the Liberty League Tournament at Doris Robison Field ... RPI swept the regular season twin bill in Canton by scores of 8-0 and 15-1 ... Kristina Weltzin threw a 5.0-inning complete-game shutout in game one, before Sara Heller went 2 for 3 with two runs and six runs batted in for the nightcap victory ... In the league tournament opener, the Engineers took a 4-0 lead after four innings and held on for the 4-3 win ... Weltzin struck out eight in 7.0 innings to pick up the victory ... In the rematch, RPI walked-off in the bottom of the seventh, when Gillian McCarthy doubled to right, plating Heller and Jocilyn Rudisill for the 4-3 victory ... Weltzin earned the win once again, throwing another 7.0 innings ... She finished with two strikeouts.

WELTZIN TABBED BY LEAGUE: The Liberty League has announced its weekly award winners and Rensselaer sophomore Kristina Weltzin was named Pitcher of the Week for the second time in three weeks ... A  righthander, Weltzin threw a complete game shutout in her only outing last week, as the Engineers blanked Castleton State, 8-0, in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday. Allowing just one hit (a single) in 6.0 innings, she struck out eight, while walking one.

RENSSELAER'S COACHES: Rensselaer is led by head coach Amber Maisonet, who is in her second season at the helm of the Engineers ... A 2008 graduate of the University of Albany, Maisonet is assisted by fellow Great Danes' alum Casey Halloran, who enters her third season as the team's pitching coach.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN: Of the 16 student-athletes on RPI's roster, five are seniors, three are juniors, four are sophomores and four are freshmen ... By position, there are four pitchers, two catchers, three infielders, four outfielders and three utility players ... Several of the Engineers play a variety of positions.
