Four on All-League
TROY, N.Y. – For the second year in a row, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team finished in first place in the regular season and will host the four-team Liberty League Tournament beginning this Friday at Renwyck Field. The four-team, two-day event features the semifinals on Friday and the finals on Saturday (3pm). The winner earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
RPI earned the right to host by compiling an 8-1 league mark. The Engineers, who are 12-3 overall, face fourth-seeded Vassar College on Friday at 2pm. The Brewers are 12-3 overall and 6-3 in the league.
The second semifinal pits second-seeded St. Lawrence University against third-seeded William Smith College. The Saints are 7-2 in the Liberty League and 11-5 overall, while the Herons are 7-2 and 10-6. St. Lawrence earned the second seed by defeating William Smith, 8-7, in the regular season.
Saturday's championship game is Saturday at 3pm at Renwyck Field. All three games can be followed live for free via webcast thanks to RPI TV (

www.rpiathletics.com/livestats). There is no admission cost to attend any of the contests.
Rensselaer, which is coached by Leslie DeLano, is currently ranked 18th in the nation. The Engineers average 14.20 goals per game, while allowing only 7.27 per contest, which is 20th in Division III.
As a team the Engineers are first in the league in goals per game, points per game (19.93), shot percentage (.555), fewest turnovers per game (12.73) and goals against average (7.16). They are second in assists per game (5.73), save percentage (.538) and saves per game (8.47).
Senior goalkeeper Allie Arnal (Lakewood, NY/Phillips Exeter Academy) backstops RPI, having recorded a 12-3 record with a 7.55 goals against average and a .543 save percentage. The two-time Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year is currently first in the league in both GAA and save percentage and second in saves per game (7.93). Nationally she is fifth in save percentage and 19th in goals against average.
Offensively, senior midfielder Alissa Peterson (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) is the team's leading goal scorer (41) and point producer (48). She also paces Rensselaer with nine free-position goals and 66 shots, including 56 on goal.
Classmate Shannon Maguire (Randolph, NJ / Randolph)
is second on the team with 30 goals and fourth with 40 points in 14 games. She also has a team-best 57 draw controls, 49 shots, 19 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. Rachel Scofield (Albany, NY / Colonie), a junior, is second on the team with 47 points, including a single season record-tying 22 assists. She is third in the league in assists per game with 1.47. She also has 40 shots, 31 draw controls, 21 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Vassar's leading scorers are sophomore attack Dara Davis (Guilford, CT / Guilford) and freshman midfielder Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA / Belmont). Davis has 42 goals and 12 assists for 54 points in 15 games, while Goldstein has 52 points on 33 goals and 19 assists in 15 contests. Two goalies have split time in goal for the Brewers.
In head-to-head competition among the four teams in the field, Rensselaer defeated Vassar, 15-4 on April 13 in Troy; defeated St. Lawrence, 7-6 in double overtime in Canton on March 29; and lost at William Smith, 12-10 on Friday. Vassar defeated both St. Lawrence (13-9) and William Smith (10-9).
