SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Potsdam came from behind with a pair of second half goals to beat Rensselaer 2-1 in the Liberty League-SUNYAC men's soccer challenge at Skidmore's Wachenheim Field. The Engineers are 4-2, while Potsdam improves to 5-2.
RPI scored first when
Matt Koziol converted a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box call at 42:28 of the first half. Potsdam benefited from its own call in the box early in the second half, as Tom Benedetto converted from the spot to tie it for the Bears at 49:32.
The Bears missed out on a chance to take the lead on another penalty, when Bennedetto's attempt went wide left in the 71st minute.
Eduardo Figueroa gave Potsdam the lead for good in the 79th minute when he cut into the box and got a clear shot for his fourth goal of the season.
Nick Davies had five saves in net for the Bears, while
Rob Dewald stopped three shots for the Engineers. RPI had a slight 15-13 shot advantage.
