TROY, N.Y. - In a match between the two teams tied for 20th in the latest ITA Regional Rankings, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team defeated SUNY New Paltz, 8-1, at Sharp Courts. The Engineers improve their dual match record to 2-0, while the Hawks fall to 5-2.
RPI won each of the three doubles matches without dropping a set, before winning seven singles matches in straight sets. Highlighting the victory was a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 by freshman Pooja Ganesh and a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 by sophomore Kelsey Ham.
The Engineers are back on the court next weekend at the ITA Tournament at William Smith.
