SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both victorious on Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at Skidmore. The men posted a score of 151-130 over the Thoroughbreds, while the women won by a 160-127 margin.

On the women's side, freshman Barb Long touched the wall first in both the 1,000 freestyle (11:15.57) and the 50 freestyle (26.92). Also a double winner for the Engineers was Maggie Cullather, who took first in the 1-meter diving competion with a score of 285.90 and the 3-meter dive with a total of 259.33.

Siena Sara touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.95), and was a member of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:57.82). Siena also finished second in the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:02.97. Joining Siena on the 200 medley relay squad was Sarah Schattschneider, who also placed first in the 100 freestyle, touching in 57.52.

Adam Kalish led the RPI men's team with two wins. He finished first in the 50 freestyle in 22.61, while also hitting the wall first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.32. Mike Rizzo was the Engineers other double winner, claiming victory in the 100 backstroke (57.05) and the 200 breaststroke (2:20.10). Rizzo was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that placed second in 1:45.05.

David James won the 200 freestyle for the Engineers in 1:51.30, while Sam Mayo touched second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:43.21). Mark Stein led the Rensselaer divers, taking second in both the 1-meter (262.95) and 3-meter (270.15) competitions.

Both squads will return to action on Feb. 1, visiting Hamilton for a dual meet.
