Live StatsTHE FACEOFF
The Engineers open 2015 with a pair of non-league home games against nationally-ranked Miami here at the Houston Field House ... Game times on Friday and Saturday are 7pm both days.
AUTISM AWARENESS
Saturday's game is Autism Awareness Night in which the Engineers will wear special uniforms that will be raffled off to those in attendance. In addition to raising awareness, the goal is to make the experience more comfortable for those with Autism and special needs who are at the game. There will be no music over the sound system and the goal horn will not sound as those with autism are sensitive to loud noises. Rensselaer players will wear special jerseys that will be raffled as a fundraiser.
ENGINEERS VS. MIAMI ALL-TIME
RPI trails Miami 1-5-0 (.167) all-time. The Engineers won the inaugural contest, 9-1, on December 28, 1984, but have lost each meeting since, including the two games in Troy. Rensselaer and Miami have played five times since 2005 with the RedHawks winning each game. They won 3-2 in overtime in the 2005 Ohio Hockey Classic and took both games in 2006-07, 7-3 and 5-1. The most recent meetings were in 2008-09 with the RedHawks winning, 3-1 and 7-1.
PUT ON THE BRAKES
With its loss at Harvard on Tuesday (6-2), Rensselaer has now lost its last six games and is 1-7-1 in its last nine contests. RPI's last victory was on November 25 at New Hampshire (2-1).
STILL BANGED UP
While the Engineers returned top offensive performer
Drew Melanson (illness) and starting goaltender
Jason Kasdorf (injury) back to the lineup on Tuesday, they were without forwards
Viktor Liljegren,
Mark Miller and
Lou Nanne.
