POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team came back from a three goal deficit, midway through the second half, to beat Vassar College, 10-8, in Liberty League action from Weinberg Field. With the win, the Engineers improve to 4-3 overall (2-0 Liberty), while the Brewers drop to 7-1 (1-1 Liberty).

Vassar sophomore Isabelle Goldstein (Belmont, MA/Belmont) put the hosts up 8-5 with 23:13 left in the second half, scoring with an extra player on the field, due to an RPI yellow card.

The Engineers then started their comeback, scoring the final five goals of the contest. Senior Marissa Page (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) netted the second of her two goals on the day, before classmate Rachel Scofield (Albany, NY/Colonie) made it 8-7 with 16:20 remaining.

Fellow senior Michelle Denny (Lusby, MD/Patuxent) then took a feed from junior Erin Riley (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and buried her ninth goal of the year to tie the game at 8-8, with 13:46 to play.

Freshman Sophie Hager (Northport, NY/Northport) then netted her fifth goal in three games, to make it 9-8. The eventual game-winning marker was unassisted. Senior Meg Colitz (East Greenwich, RI/LaSalle Academy) capped the scoring with her team-leading 13th goal of the season.

Colitz led RPI with three goals and an assist for four points. Scofield had two goals and an assist, while junior goaltender Erin Amarello (Griswold, CT/St. Bernard School) stopped 10 of the 18 shots she faced. Vassar junior Kate Pula (Washington Township, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) made nine saves.

The Engineers return to action next weekend, when they host William Smith and Union College on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively.
