ORLANDO, Fla. - In a matchup between two regionally-ranked opponents, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team defeated The College of New Jersey, 5-4, behind two doubles wins and three victories in singles. The Engineers, ranked 15th, improve to 5-0, while the 14th-ranked Lions lose for the first time, falling to 7-1.
After winning two of three doubles matches, RPI won three of the first four singles matches for the win.
Kelsey Ham won her match at No. 5 to clinch the victory for Rensselaer.
The Engineers, who got two wins from senior captain
Christina Ciamarra, return to the court on Tuesday against Stevens Institute of Technology (10:30am).
