Katie Russell and
Christina Ciamarra for playing their final home match, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and the top five singles matches on its way to defeating Union College, 8-1. The Engineers, who are ranked 16th in the Northeast Region, improve to 9-4. The Dutchwomen fall to 6-4.
In taking a 3-0 lead after doubles, in which freshman
Angelika Rothberg teamed up with
Emily Aaldenberg for her first collegiate match and win, RPI captured singles Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 in straight sets. Junior
Casey Olsen was also victorious, winning No. 1 singles in dramatic fashion, 3-6, 6-3, 13-11. She defeated freshman Natalia Pronchick.
Ciamarra posted two wins, 8-5 at No. 2 doubles with
Jessica Buckley, and 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
