The Engineers, who are currently ranked No. 16 in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's poll, remain unbeaten on the year with a 5-0-1 record while the Vikings slip to 0-4.

RPI got on the board early when Nathaniel Gunderson (Olympia, WA) headed in a pass past Salem State keeper Nondas Kargakis (Heraklion, Greece). Vito Mesiti (Slingerlands, NY) made it 2-0 in the 24th minute when he blasted a pass from Matt Koziol (Poughkeepsie, NY) into the back of the net. Salem State squandered their best scoring opportunity of the half when Ralph Bertrand (Rowley, MA) outraced the Engineers' defense, but his shot when high, keeping the deficit at two goals. Jeff Willoughby (Austin, TX) added to the Engineers' lead with a laser from ten yards out to make it 3-0 at the break.

Alex Kessler (Delmar, NY) started the second half at goal for RPI, and immediately made an impressive diving save to stop a penalty kick off the foot of Kevin Gallo (Melrose, MA) keeping the Vikings off the board. Matt Carberry (Auburn, NY) extended the lead to 4-0 when he cradled a pass from Mesiti into the left corner of the net. The game would end with a 4-0 victory for the Engineers.

Kargakis had three saves for Vikings. Rob Dewald (Arlington, VA) started and picked up the win despite not having to make a save for RPI. Kessler had the Engineers only save.

RPI outshot Salem State 12-3, and took 8 corners while the Vikings did not attempt a corner kick.

Salem State plays again Wednesday at UMass-Boston at 3:30 PM. RPI will play at home Tuesday and will take on Skidmore College at 7:30 PM.
