RPI Athletics on TwitterTROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) swimming & diving teams saw 11 different student-athletes post victories, including two with a pair of individual wins, and the Engineers swept Skidmore College in a dual meet. The Rensselaer women won, 119-83, while the men defeated the Thoroughbreds by a 117-76 count.
Freshman Erin Kane had multiple wins for RPI, taking the 200 free in a time of 2:02.51 and the 100 fly in 1:05.07.
Richard Dong, a sophomore, also had two individual wins, finishing first in the 100 fly (55.26) and 100 breast (1:02.25), respectively. He also swam on the victorious 200 medley relay team, which touched in a time of 1:40.17.
The women's 200 medley team also won with a time of 1:58.15. Among those in that group was freshman Michaela Yamashita, who later won the 50 free in a time of 26.05. Four other women had individual victories. They were Shanny Lin in the 1000 free (11:21.53), Jessica Sauve in the 400 IM (4:48.95), Danielle Sauve in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.51) and Maddie Miller off the 1 meter diving board (223.45).
Others from the men's team with wins were
Brandon Koo in the 200 free (1:50.56),
Spencer Marquardt in the 50 free (22.76),
Mike Rizzo in the 400 IM (4:28.32) and
Miguel Hummel off the 3 meter board (280.40).
Both Engineers teams return to the pool next Saturday for a home dual meet with Hamilton College at Robison Pool (1pm).
