SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Dani DeGregory and Gabby Hyman scored two goals each to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 6-0 Liberty League win over Rensselaer, Saturday afternoon at Wagner Park.

The 10th ranked Thoroughbreds (8-3, 2-0 Liberty League) have won 27 consecutive Liberty League home games, extending the streak that started in 2009. The Engineers are 6-5 and 1-2 in league play.

The win was the 299th for Skidmore coach Beth Hallenbeck, who is in her 15th season at Skidmore and 25th overall. She has a 299-140-2 record, including a 229-63-1 mark for the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore scored four goals in the first 16:48 of the contest. DeGregory made it 1-0 with a blistering shot on a play that started off a corner at 5:31. Becca Halter had the assist. DeGregory set-up Seeley Fancher for her first goal of the season at 7:39.  Hyman one-timed a centering pass from Krista Lamoreaux for a 3-0 lead at 12:35. De Gregory closed the run with her 90th career goal at 16:48. DeGregory is the NCAA Division III active career leader in goals and ranks 17th all-time.

The Engineers had opportunities to score with four corners in a five minute span late in the first half, but the Thoroughbred defense held tough behind a pair of saves from Zoe McGuire.

Skidmore added a pair of goals in the second half. Jenn Hanks scored off a corner at 55:38 from Lamoreaux and assisted on Hyman's second goal off another corner at 56:45. Hanks was tough on the defense end with a late defensive save to preserve the shutout.

The Thoroughbreds held a slight 14-13 shot advantage, while the Engineers had 10 penalty corners to eight for Skidmore.

McGuire had seven saves for her third shutout of the season. Rachel Kaufman had five saves for RPI.

Skidmore will host St. Lawrence on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m.  The Engineers travel to Rochester on Oct. 16 for a 5 p.m. start.
