THE FACEOFF

38TH ANNUAL BIG RED FREAKOUT!
It all started on February 25, 1978, with a 6-5 overtime win over New Hampshire and the Big Red Freakout! has been the hottest ticket in the Capital Region ever since. Steve Stoyanovich was the star of the first game, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist as the Engineers. RPI is 21-11-5 all-time in Freakouts!, including a 17-game unbeaten streak (12-0-5) from 1990 to 2007. Last season, Rensselaer defeated Brown, 4-1, before a sold out crowd of 4,820. RPI, which has won three of the last four Freakouts!, has played Yale in four Freakouts!, winning twice (1985, 2011) and losing twice (1989, 2009).

JOHN CARTER TO BE INDUCTED
Former RPI standout John Carter '86 will be the eighth inductee into the Hockey Ring of Honor prior to Saturday's game. A two-time national All-America and the second leading point producer in school history, he was a forward who wore number 15 who helped RPI to the 1985 NCAA Championship and two ECAC Championships.

1994-95 ECAC CHAMPIONS
On Saturday night, the 1994-95 men's hockey team that 20 years ago won the ECAC Championship and played in the NCAA Tournament will be celebrated. Many of those former players will be back to be recognized fo an on-ice ceremony during the first intermission of Saturday's game. It is also the 30th anniversary of the 1985 NCAA Championship team and many of the players from that team will also be on hand.

ALUMNI GAME
This weekend is the RPI Men's Hockey Alumni Weekend with many former players returning to campus. The Annual Alumni Game is scheduled for noon on Saturday at the Houston Field House. The alumni game is free to attend.

2014-15 ENGINEERS
