Rensselaer returns home to Houston Field House for the final regular season series of 2014-15, hosting Clarkson on Friday and St. Lawrence on Saturday. Both games begin at 7pm. The Engineers took on both teams in the North Country earlier this month, and were swept, falling to the Saints, 3-1, and Clarkson, 5-2.
THE STANDINGS
RPI enters this weekend's action in ninth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with 18 points, three behind Clarkson for eighth place, which also represents the final position for home ice advantage in the first round of the league's post-season. St. Lawrence is in second place, four points ahead of third place Yale.
THE POSSIBILITIES
The Engineers can finish anywhere from eighth place to 11th place in the standings. Clarkson can finish between sixth and ninth place, it clinches home ice with a point against RPI or two points against Union. St. Lawrence is locked into second place.
2014-15 ENGINEERS
After sweeping then-No. 15 Colgate and Cornell at home in January, RPI saw a three-game winning streak snapped on January 24 and have not won since, losing six straight games before skating to a 2-2 tie at Cornell on Friday. The Engineers, who lost at Colgate on Saturday, are currently in an eight-game skein (0-7-1).
