GENEVA, N.Y. -- 
Casey Olsen won at number one singles, and combined with 
Amanda Alexander for a win at second doubles to lead Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) t oa 6-3 win over William Smith in Liberty League women's tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the HWS Tennis Center. The Engineers, ranked 18th in the Northeast Region, improve to 7-5 overall with a 3-2 mark in league play. Ranked 20th regionally, the Herons drop to 4-6, with an 0-4 record in the Liberty League.
The two teams split in singles action, with each team going 3-3. Olsen (Glen Ridge, NJ / Glen Ridge) posted a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win at the top singles spot over Hannah More. Alexander (Houston, TX / The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts) defeated Sydney Arsenault, 6-4, 6-2, at fourth singles, while 
Emily Aaldenberg (West Chester, PA / West Chester B. Reed Henderson) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Alex Cattie in the last singles match of the day. The Engineers then swept doubles play, led by Olsen and Alexander, who recorded an 8-2 win over Arsenault and Mikey Denton in the second match. In the top doubles match, 
Emily Laurilliard (Niskayuna, NY / Niskayuna) and 
Melanie Frank (Durham, CT / Coginchaug Regional) recorded a 9-7 win, while Aaldenberg teamed up with 
Pooja Ganesh (Fremont, CA / Westborough) to defeat Cattie and Taylor Ferrari, 9-7. 
RPI will return to action on Saturday, visiting Rochester. The match will begin at 10 a.m.
