Casey Olsen and
Amanda Alexander won at second doubles, but the Renssealer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team was defeated by Rochester, 6-3, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at at the Goergen Athletic Center.
Rochester, ranked 17th regionally, won the first four singles matches in the victory. RPI picked up singles wins at the fifth and sixth spots, by
Pooja Ganesh and
Emily Aaldenberg, respectively. Ganesh defeated Alex Wollcott, 6-3, 3-6, 10-8, while Aaldenberg posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Darby McCall in the final singles match of the day.
Olsen and Alexander defeated Molly Goodman and Dorothy Pai, 9-7, at No. 2 doubles. Emily Laurillard and
Melanie Frank pushed the top doubles match to a tiebreak, but Cara Gerbauffe and Christine Ho recorded a 9-8 (4) win in the match.
The Engineers, who move to 7-6 on the season, return to action next Saturday, visiting The College of New Jersey for a 12 p.m. match start.
