RPI Athletics on YouTubeEWING, N.J. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team suffered three tough-luck losses in doubles and could not come back in singles, falling to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), 9-0, in non-league action. RPI falls to 7-7, while the Lions, who are ranked 18th in the Northeast Region, improve to 12-1.
In the three doubles matches, the Engineers lost by a combined six points, falling 8-6 at both No. 1 and No. 2 and 9-7 at No. 3.
Emily Laurilliard and
Melanie Frank played first doubles,
Casey Olsen and
Amanda Alexander were the No. 2 doubles team and
Pooja Ganesh and
Emily Aaldenberg played third doubles. Those six student-athletes then played singles with each falling in straight sets.
Rensselaer is right back in action on Sunday when it hosts nationally-ranked Skidmore College in a Liberty League match at 1pm at Sharp Courts. The Thoroughbreds, who are 9-8 overall, including a 9-0 win over TCNJ on April 11, are 16th in Division III. They are sixth in the Northeast Region.
