Kristina Weltzin went all eight innings to lead the Rensselaer to a doubleheader split with Plattsburgh State, on Wednesday ... The Engineers won game one, 2-1, while the Cardinals came back to win game two, 3-2 ... Both contests went eight innings ... In game one, Weltzin allowed just one run on two hits in 8.0 innings, striking out eigtht and walking one ... Plattsburgh freshman Taylor Smith took the loss, surrendering one unearned run on two hits in 2.1 innings ... Junior
Taylor Ten Eyck provided the heroics in the bottom of the eighth inning, hitting a walk-off single up the middle ... Plattsburgh took an early lead in game two, but a two-run homer by Ten Eyck put the hosts on top, 2-1, in fourth ... The Cardinals rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh and were able to win it in the eighth, scratching across a run on a double by Jackie Decker.
