Engineers continue three-game homestand against Vassar (4pm)

LEAGUE HOMESTAND CONTINUES: Rensselaer welcome Vassar to Renwyck Field for the second of three straight home contests to open Liberty League play ... Opening draw for the Engineers' match-up with the Brewers is schedule for 4pm.

RPI EDGES SKIDMORE IN TRIPLE OT: Sophomore Sophie Hager scored with 43.8 seconds left the third overtime to give Rensselaer a 9-8 victory over Skidmore last Saturday ... The game, which lasted 77:16, is the longest in RPI women's lacrosse history, surpassing a 10-9 loss to William Smith on April 24, 2004, which also went three overtime periods ... In the second half of the third OT, Skidmore leading scorer, Tyler Phillips marched the period-opening draw control right down the field, but her attempt was denied by RPI senior netminder Erin Amarello, just 14 seconds in ... Sixteen seconds later, Megan Kolopsky tipped a shot by Mackenzie O'Neil over the bar at the other end of the field ... RPI then went on the attack, before Hager was finally able fire past Kolopsky to win it ... Erin Riley finished with two goals on six shots, with a game-high four caused turnovers, three ground balls and three draw controls ... Jamie Wakefield also had two goals on a game-best 10 shots ... She collected six ground balls and four draw controls, while causing two Skidmore turnovers ... Emma Harris paced the Thoroughbreds with five goals and an assist ... She also had a ground ball and was 2 for 4 on free position attempts ... Phillips had two goals on six shots, with a ground ball, five caused turnovers and three draw controls.

RPI LEADERS: Sophomore Sophie Hager leads the Engineers with 25 points on six goals and a team-best 18 assists ... Graduate student Meg Colitz (15 goals, 3 assists) is second with 18 points, while Erin Riley (13 goals, 4 assists) rounds out the top three scorers with 17 points ... Senior Jamie Wakefield (7 goals, 1 assist) leads the club with 19 ground balls, while classmates Lydia Wolter and Riley both have a team-high eight caused turnovers.

RPI GOALTENDING: Senior captain Erin Amarello (3-3) has a 9.72 goals against average and a .471 save percentage as the starter in all six games this season.

PACING THE BREWERS: Junior Isabelle Goldstein leads Vassar in scoring with 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists ... Sophomore Julie Trudell (9 goals, 6 assists) is second with 15 points, while junior Kim Mulvehill (11 goals, 2 assists) rounds out the top three scorers with 13 points ... In goal, senior Kate Pula is 3-3 with a 9.86 goals against average and a .447 save percentage.

2014 VS. VASSAR: RPI won both meetings last season, beginning with a 10-8 regular season victory in Poughkeepsie ... Meg Colitz had three goals and an assist, while Rachel Scofield had two goals an an assist to lead the RPI attack ... Erin Amarello made 10 saves to help solidify the win, as the Engineers needed a 5-1 second half surge to escape a deficit at the break ... The two teams met again in the Liberty League semifinals at Renwyck Field on May 2 ... Rensselaer pulled away in the second half once again, scoring nine times over the final 30 minutes to win 11-7 ... Colitz once again posted three goals and an assist, while Erin Riley chipped in with two goals and one helper ... Dara Davis had three tallies for Vassar.

LIBERTY LEAGUE AWARD: Senior goaltender Erin Amarello was named the Liberty League's Defensive Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday ... It is Amarello's second weekly award this season ... She went 1-1 with a 7.43 goals against average and a .528 save percentage last week ... She recorded a season-high 15 saves as the Engineers opened Liberty League play with a 9-8 triple-overtime win over Skidmore on Saturday.

RPI IN LEAGUE PLAY: The Engineers have won 12 consecutive Liberty League contests, dating back to 2013 ... Since the start of the 2010 season, Rensselaer is 37-7 in regular season conference games, including 19-3 at Renwyck Field ... The Engineers last home league loss came on April 13, 2012 – a 10-9 defeat to Union.
