Amanda Alexander, and
Emily Aaldenberg all competed in their final matches for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), as the Engineers dropped a 5-0 decision to Skidmore in the Liberty League Semifinals, held at Reis Tennis Center on Saturday morning.Â
Skidmore, ranked 16th nationally, swept all three doubles matches, and took two singles matches to seal the decision. Olsen and Alexander played the closest doubles decision, falling 8-5 at second doubles to Skidmore's Brianna Greene and Erica Meno. In the first doubles match,
Emily Laurilliard and
Melanie Frank fell to Zoe Valella and Yumi Karlshoej, 8-2, while
Pooja Ganesh and Aaldenberg dropped an 8-3 decision to Meno and Michelle Fuca.
The Thoroughbreds only needed to play two singles matches to completion to seal up the victory. Caroline Hobbs defeated Ganesh, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 singles, while Fuca posted a 6-2, 6-1 score over Aaldenberg at fifth singles for the win.Â
The Engineers, coached by
Caitlin Crowley, finish the season with a 9-9 record.
