ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women's tennis team opened the 2015-16 season with a 9-0 sweep of Bard College in a Liberty League match on Sunday morning.
The Engineers swept all three doubles matches, yielding just three games, and swept all six singles matches in straight sets.
Newcomers had a big impact for RPI, including freshmen
Erica Frommer and
Nisha Rajamohan, who teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles, and also prevailed at Nos. 1 & 2 singles, respectively. Freshmen
Andrea Valencia and
Mailani Neal won at No. 2 doubles, and at Nos. 3 & 4 singles, respectively.
Junior Poosh Ganesh teamed with freshman
Makenzi Herbst to win at No. 3 doubles, and they won at Nos. 5 & 6 singles, respectively.
Up next for RPI is the Mary Hosking Invitational next weekend, hosted by William Smith College.
