CANTON, N.Y. - Melissa Grosshans scored on a breakaway off a pass from Lucy Stillman in the 75th minute to give the St. Lawrence University field hockey team a 4-3 overtime win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on North Country Field on Saturday afternoon.

The game featured a wild finish, as the Saints took a 3-2 lead with 40 seconds to play on a goal by Carly Dziekan, but Rensselaer's Mikaela DiBello tied the game with her second goal of the day off a penalty corner after time had expired.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Stillman at 12:50, but the advantage lasted only 57 seconds as DiBello tied the game with her third of the season. Megan Jones set up DiBello's goal. Anna Hughes scored 15 minutes later, with Maggie Wraight tallying her second assist of the game, to give the Saints a 2-1 lead at the half.

The Engineers came out and dominated the second half, outshooting St. Lawrence 22-2 and tying the game in the 52nd minute off a goal by Claire Cecilio at 51:10. The Saints grabbed the lead back with under a minute to play, but DiBello scored off a pass from Taylor Clink to force overtime.

Julia Hudson had an outstanding game for the Saints, making a career-high 21 saves to record her first victory of the season. Rachel Kaufman had four saves for the Engineers, who fall to 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the league. RPI's next game is Saturday against nationally-ranked Skidmore College in Troy (11am).

St. Lawrence improved to 4-5 overall, 1-1 in the Liberty League.
