TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team has qualified for the 2016 Liberty League Tournament for the and will be the third seed in Wednesday afternoon's semifinal at second seed and 20th-ranked Vassar College (2:30pm).
Led by 14th-year head coach
Adam Clinton, the Engineers enter the postseason with an 8-6-4 overall record, including a 5-2-1 mark in Liberty League play.
The Engineers are led by senior
Devon Baughen (Sarasota, FL/Pine View), who has eight goals and five assists for 21 points. He also leads the team with 49 shots, including 23 on goal and has converted all three of his penalty kicks. Classmate
Nick Revano (Metuchen, NJ/Hun School of Princeton) has two goals and two assists for six points, while junior captain
Steven Collins (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Regional) rounds out the top three scorers with two goals and one assist for five points.
Freshman goalkeeper
Matt LaBranche (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) has started seven games, including the last six in a row (all shutouts). He has a 5-1-2 record with 0.33 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. Junior
Ryan Nealon (Somers, NY/Somers) is 3-5-2 with a 0.92 goals against average and a .719 save percentage.
RPI missed the playoffs in 2015, but made the conference tournament in the six of the previous seven seasons. Since 2008, the Engineers have reached the league's title game three times (2010, 2012 & 2014), winning at Vassar in 2012 on penalty kicks.
The Brewers came away with a 3-2 win over the Engineers on October 8. In that game, Vassar scored two early goals and RPI was unable to come back, despite drawing to within one on two occasions. Baughen and freshman

The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will advance to the Liberty League Championship Game on Saturday, with location and time TBD.
