Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - Junior
Stephanie Caudle and sophomore
Sarah Harms earned wins in the circle to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) softball team past Geneseo and Framingham State by scores of 4-3 and 9-1 on Monday at Hancock Fields. With the wins, the Engineers improve to 5-1 on the season.
Caudle went 6.0 innings against the Knights, allowing three runs on eight hits. She struck out one and walked two.
Both teams plated single runs in the first inning, as the Engineers took advantage of passed ball and Geneseo got an RBI-double from Tori Fahie.
Junior
Morgan Kollmeier gave RPI the lead in the fourth, singling to center to bring home
Kacie Herity. Later in the inning, the Engineers capitalized on a Knights error scoring two more runs to take a 4-1 lead.
Geneseo mounted a rally in the sixth, scoring two runs and chasing Caudle from the game. Rensselaer freshman
Stephanie Deeb came on to earne the save, retiring the final three batters on a pair of groundouts and a pop up.
Harms went the distance in Game 2, as the Engineers took down Framingham State, 9-1.
