MEET TIME (JANUARY 21, 2017): The Engineers (6-0 men; 5-1 women) host Skidmore College (4-3 men; 3-4 women) in a dual meet at Robison Pool.
WELCOME BACK: Rensselaer welcomed the Thoroughbreds to campus last Saturday as part of the RPI Kumpf Invitational in Troy.
LAST SATURDAY:
Dan Hendricks won two events and two others were also victorious in helping the RPI men win the RPI Kumpf Invitational ... The Engineers had 631 points to win the five-school event ... Rensselaer's women finished second of six schools with 539 points ... Junior Jessica Sauve led the way by winning two individual events and a relay ... Ithaca captured the team championship with 644 points ... The Skidmore women and men were both fifth.
JANUARY 13: The Rensselaer men increased its dual meet winning streak to 15 straight in dramatic fashion as the Engineers won the final event for a 128-115 victory over Union ... RPI's women also defeated Union, winning eight events on their way to a 139-101 victory ... The men's matchup came down to the 200 free relay and the team of
Spencer Marquardt,
Justin Chang,
Andrew Klobucher and
John Alberta touched the wall first, finishing in 1:29.02 ... Union's relay came in less than a second later, at 1:29.30 ... RPI's women's team got individual wins from five different student-athletes with Jessica Sauve, Danielle Sauve and Jessica Kugelman each winning twice.Â
WEEKLY AWARDS: The Liberty League's weekly swimming & diving awards included four RPI student-athletes ... Junior Jessica Sauve earned Women's Swimmer of the Week, freshmen Jessica Kugelman and
Trevor Maxfield were named Rookies of the Week and senior
Andrew Klobucher garnered Honor Roll recognition ... Additionally, Suave was named the ECAC Division III North Swimmer of the Week and Kugelman took Rookie of the Week.
THREE TIMES EACH: Junior Jessica Sauve has been the Liberty League Swimmer of the Week three times ... Freshman Jessica Kugelman has garnered three honors herself with two Rookie of the Week awards and a Diver of the Week.
MEN'S HONOREES: RPI has had three men earn Swimmer of the Week this season with

John Alberta each being recognized ... Sophomore
Alex Chused has been the Diver of the Week three times ... Freshman
Trevor Maxfield has one Rookie of the Week award to his credit.Â
NATIONAL RANKINGS: The latest CSCAA / TYR Top 25 Division III Swimming & Diving Polls have been revealed and both Rensselaer teams are listed - with both at No. 23, respectively ... The women's team moved up two spots from the previous ranking, while the men are in the poll for the first time.
ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Rensselaer's women's team had a team grade point average of 3.43 in the fall 2016 semester, the highest among all of RPI's teams ... Sixteen (of 20) student-athletes had at least a 3.0 grade point average and 14 of those were 3.5 or higher, including three who earned 4.0s ... The men's team was at a 3.11 with 21 (of 30) at 3.0 or better and 13 with at least a 3.5 term GPA.
DEPARTMENT ACADEMICS: Rensselaer Athletics had 17 teams (of 21) with term GPAs of 3.0 or better in the fall ... The men's average was 3.07 with the women at 3.24 ... In total, RPI's 608 student-athletes averaged a 3.13.
UNDER O'BRIEN: In her 21-year tenure heading into this season, Rensselaer head coach Shannon O'Brien has coached 17 NCAA All-Americas and 18 Honorable Mention All-Americas ... Within the Liberty League, RPI has had seven Swimmers of the Year, 10 Divers of the Year and 10 Rookies of the Year while winning seven men's championships.
CAPTAINS: Rensselaer's women's team is captained by Anna Drechsler, Annika Lindstrom, Barbara Long and Siena Sara ... Drechsler and Lindstrom are second-year captains, while this is the first season in that role for Long and Sara ... All four student-athletes are seniors ... The men have two captains, both seniors in their first seasons in doing so ... They are
