CANTON, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team got singles victories at No. 2 and No. 6, but they were not enough as the Engineers fell to Liberty League foe St. Lawrence University, 7-2. RPI falls to 2-4 and 0-3, while the Saints improve to 4-0 and 2-0.
Rensselaer's
Erica Frommer earned the team's first victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2. Fellow sophomore
Andrea Valencia later won at No. 6, 6-2, 6-3, for the final margin.
Among RPI's individual match losses,
Nisha Rajamohan fell 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 and
Mailani Neal was defeated in the third set, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7, at No. 5.
Rensselaer returns to the court next Sunday when it faces Trinity University of Texas in a match in Orlando, Florida (3pm).
